Step into tradition at The Guards Museum in London! Just a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace, The Guards Museum offers families the chance to get up close to the history of the British Army’s iconic Foot Guards. From the dazzling red tunics to the stories of bravery on the battlefield, the museum is full of treasures that will capture the imagination of both children and adults. It’s a perfect stop for families looking to add history and colour to their London adventure.
Inside the museum, little ones will love spotting the different uniforms, helmets and medals, while parents can enjoy exploring the detailed displays that cover over 380 years of history. Exhibits include real weapons, personal letters, and fascinating artifacts that tell the story of life as a Guardsman, both on parade and in combat. The experience is interactive and easy to follow, and many kids especially enjoy learning about the famous Changing of the Guard and then seeing the Guards in action outside just minutes away.
With free entry for children, it’s a budget-friendly option that doesn’t compromise on fun or learning. After exploring the museum, stroll through nearby St James’s Park or watch the Guards march to the Palace, making it part of a bigger day of adventure. Whether you're fascinated by soldiers, or enjoy stories of courage and tradition, The Guards Museum offers a unique, memorable outing that everyone will talk about long after your visit.
