Go Ape is not signposted until you are at the entrance to Haldon Forest Park itself.
From the North: There are 4 main roads that lead to the A38 to Plymouth which has the exit sign to "Haldon Forest" (and Go Ape!)
M5 Southbound (becomes the A38)
A377 (from Barnstaple, which joins the A30)
A30 (from Okehampton, which joins the A38)
A379 (from Countess Wear and joins the A38 at Kennford)
Ensure you are on the A38 to Plymouth when the road splits into the A380 (Torquay) and the A38 Plymouth. The road becomes a steep hill with three lanes.
Ensure you are in the left hand lane before the top of the hill as the turn off at the "Haldon Forest" & "Exeter Racecourse" (and Go Ape!) sign has no slip road and is a very sharp left turn.
At the mini roundabout turn right and head past the entrance to Exeter Racecourse, underneath an underpass and straight on for over a mile. Turn left into Haldon Gateway.
Please note that the first turn into what appears to be Haldon Hub is actually the Forestry Commission offices and has "OFFICE ACCESS ONLY" painted on the road. Haldon Forest and Go Ape! is a further 200 yards on the left).
From the South: There are 2 main roads from the South:
A380 (from Torquay)
A38 (from Plymouth/Cornwall)
From the A380 northbound you will find an exit sign to "Haldon Forest" & "Exeter Racecourse" (and Go Ape!) just before a service station. Follow this road straight (sign posted Haldon Gateway) over a mini roundabout, past the entrance to Exeter Racecourse, underneath an underpass and straight on for over a mile. Turn left into Haldon Gateway.
From the A38 northbound you take an exit soon after a Service station to "Haldon Forest" & "Exeter Racecourse" (and Go Ape!) This slip road takes you to a junction where you turn left then straight on for over a mile where you will see a left turn into Haldon Gateway.
Please note that the first turn into what appears to be Haldon Hub is actually the Forestry Commission offices and has "OFFICE ACCESS ONLY" painted on the road. Haldon Forest and Go Ape! is a further 200 yards on the left). Go Ape is at the far end of the car park tucked away.
Due to the rural nature of the locations, postcodes are not always accurate when using sat-nav. Please always check the route it has given you before setting off, and cross reference with a map.
Opening times vary depending on the location you have chosen. For full details and closure dates, please check with Go Ape.
