General Information
- The Kelly Car (Land Train) will run every day, subject to availability. When the Boathouse Café & Kitchen are open, the last departure leaves from the Boathouse area at 3pm. When the Boathouse isn’t open, the last departure leaves from the House entrance at 3pm. You are welcome to bring your own picnic. Outdoor seating is available around the site.
- Pushchairs and prams are not allowed in the main House for our Christmas in Neverland or Father Christmas. Please leave your pushchair or pram in the dedicated covered space in the Christmas Marquee.
- Baby carriers and hip seats are available to borrow from the House entrance.
- No food or drink is allowed in the House.
- The Coffee Shop is open daily, serving take-away cakes, hot drinks, and snacks. The Courtyard Trailer, open during weekends in November and daily in December, serves hot drinks including delicious hot chocolate, and marshmallows for toasting on our Brazier. The Boathouse Café and Kitchen at Adventure Playground are open during weekends, serving hot drinks, cakes, and hot take-away treats including pizzas and hotdogs. Nyetimber Bar will be serving cold glasses of Nyetimber Classic Cuvee daily.
- Castle Howard is a cashless venue.
Booking and Ticket Information
- When you buy online you will receive an email containing your ticket. Please present on your smart phone on arrival on the day of your visit.
- If you require a carer or companion, they can visit for free. All carers are asked to bring with you evidence of carer status, which will be checked in the Ticket Office.
- Saving based off walk up rate and potential booking fees.
- Picniq accept all debit cards, Maestro, Visa and Mastercard as methods of payment. There is no credit card charge or booking fee.
- Online bookings are limited to a maximum of 12 visitors.
- Tickets purchased through Picniq are not refundable. The date of the visit can be amended for a fee of £10 per booking. Terms and conditions apply.

Castle Howard is just 15 miles North East of York and is easily accessible from the A64 which connects Leeds, York and the Yorkshire Coast.
From the North - From the A1 take the A61 to Thirsk then the A170 to Helmsley. Before Helmsley turn right onto the B1257 and follow the brown signs. Please be aware this route includes Sutton Bank which is unsuitable for caravans. If you are towing, please continue down the A19 and follow the signs for the alternative route.
From the South - Take the A1M to Junction 44 and follow the A64 east to York. Continue on the A64 past York in the direction of Scarborough, and you will shortly pick up the brown signs for Castle Howard.
You can also take the scenic route, avoiding the A64 and taking in North Yorkshire countryside and villages.
Rail:
Malton is the nearest train station (6 miles) to Castle Howard and York (approx. 16 miles) is the closest major train station. Both stations have buses running directly to Castle Howard and taxis are also available from both station
Bus:
York to Castle Howard: A direct bus service, CastleLine runs from York to Castle Howard.
